Malam Berinai

Sorry, not a lot of photos.

Because you know, my hands were kind of busy. XP

I was surrounded by family, close friends, and videographers. LOL.

Even bestie Lynn was there, skype-ing in all the way from Korea. The videographers were so amused by her antics. Dancing the entire Gangnam Style plus singing at the same time! LOL! Such a major entertainment for the night! Love you babe! :')

My henna was a collection that accumulated over a year, where whenever a friend/family is going for Hajj or Umrah, I'd ask them to get me some of Rani tube henna. And lo and behold, I got 6 tubes for my own! I love them because they are bright orange-y red, and not that dark maroon-black type (gothic much? =_=).

The design was simple and done by Kak Mol from Petra Bridal. Never wanted the fussy design. Not me at all. ;p

Pre Henna, Oh the freedom to roam around and touch/slap stuff without staining them!

Post Henna, lovely bright and simple design! Love! :)

B2Bs, have fun on your malam berinai! It's your last night as a single gal! Don't fuss too much over your henna design! Besides, it's not really a  major requirement, it's just a tradition! ;)

My Solemnization Doorgifts

This was a really late minute project. Like, a few days before the actual event.

Mum suddenly said that we had to prepare doorgifts for the grooms' family who will be coming for the solemnization event. I didn't knwo we had to prepare a separate batch of doorgifts! D8

So yes, another DIY project for me. Bought colourful and cute present wrapping papers. Snip, snip them into six pieces per paper, folded them, taped them, printed out some tags using the stamp design for our envvelopes, stick them on with double sided tape, filled them with nice chocolates, got some ribbons that have been lying around the house, stapled them and done! Yay. XD

Future B2Bs! Be always prepared! And most importantly, be creative! ;)

My Wedding Doorgift

Okay, so I've been busy. Nak bloghopping pun macam pfftt. Please bear with me. (=_=)

Since the photos from my official photogs are not available yet, I thought I'd blog about the other details of my wedding.

For my wedding doorgift, I had browsed a lot of blogs for ideas. I never thought of DIY-ing my doorgift at first because I knew it would require a lot of work and time and well, patience.

I knew how I wanted it wrapped. I love the brown paper bag idea. Love the colour, love how economical it is and especially love the price! I mean you can't go wrong with it being RM5 for a packet of 100! I bought 10 packets, which totaled up to well, RM50.

Single doily was for the normal guests, double doilies were for the VIPs

The same company also sold a range of doily papers in assorted sizes. I bought the smallest one (though thinking back, I should have gone up a size, haha) which was RM3.50 for 250 pieces. What a steal! I bought 4 packets of that. I actually needed only 700-800 but since they were so cheap, I thought, why not? Plus, some mistakes are bound to happen, better have some back-ups!

I bought the ribbons at a small shop at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman in KL which were RM22 for 20 rolls. Love!!! :D I personally chose the colour maroon, because I loved the warmth of it when combined with the colour of the paper bag. :)

The design was sketched by Otto (husband), and designed by Chu, who is also responsible for my wedding invites as well as my engagement invites. Thank you so much!!! Cute and pretty! Love! All I did was set the paper size to an index card size (which was the same size with my paper bag) and paste it at the bottom! Placed the paperbags (5 at a time, or else you'll end up with massive paper jam!! =_=) in the printer and voila! Done! I made about 850 pieces! Remember to give your printer some rest time though. Or else it'll just die on you halfway. Like mine did. Thank God it was okay after an hour or two. (T_T)

Trusty Printer! You have been so helpful!! (T3T)

Sketch by Otto! Design by Chu!

Voila!

But prices for doorgifts are kerraayyyyzehhhh. I kept multiplying it and gasping at the total. I do not want to waste so much money on stuff that would probably collect dust around my guests' homes.

So I brainstormed some more. One day, I saw my dad writing down our grocery shopping list on a scrap of paper and thought, "That's it! A custom notebook!"

So we headed to Lee Ming Press where my uncle works, and asked for a quote on the price for 800 notebooks, and yay! 70 cents each! Finally, found something that was less than rm2 and actually awesome! :') I felt so grateful for everything!

I stuck to my fun comic book theme and used the same design for my wedding invite as the cover for my notebook! Not only is it one of a kind, it's super useful!!! :D

Love! :)

For B2B, scour everywhere for ideas, sometimes you'll find ideas at the weirdest places and moments! And most of all, don't overspend! You know the money is so much more fun to spend on yourselves than on something that might just end up in a dark corner of a cupboard! Think food, stationary, sweets etc. Economical and much more preferred if you ask me! ;)

My Wedding Invitations

I had it set in mind the moment I had my then boyfriend (now husband) in my life. If we ended up getting married, our wedding invites would be comic book style~ xD

Alhamdulillah, jodoh kesampaian jugak.. :)

My dad really liked the kraft card idea for invites becouse it exude a rustic and eco feel to it. I loved it too, so I thought of having it like a comic book/exercise book look to it. But when I asked the wedding card printing companies about it, wow. Totally blown away by the prices! In a bad way. :( They were likerm2 to rm3 a piece. And they weren't even the design I really liked.

So again, I started my hunt for the kraft paper and yes! Thanks to Otto's cousin who worked at Techno Graphic, he told us there were a bunch in stock and were selling at a mere rm24 for 100 pieces! Joy!!!

Returned to Chu; (who designed my engagement invites too!) and provided her my ideas for the card, Otto's sketch of us for the cover, and handed everything to her! And yes, I have never been disappointed by her work! Brilliant as always! She edits immediately whatever needs to be edited and helps you in every way possible! Highly recommended!

In the process, trusty printer, and That 70's Show playing nonstop to keep me company while printing. :p

Otto's Sketch of us, Chu's awesome comic book design, implememnting all my ideas! :D

More details on the cover and inlay of my card can be seen at her blog HERE!

I had Otto sketch a simple one of us to be used for doorgift and also for a custom stamp for our envelopes, just to jazz up our empty envelopes! Custom stamp was RM23, and envelopes were roughly RM7.50 for 100 pieces. :D

I got the "Handmade from the Heart" stamp from a craft store for about RM12 if I'm not mistaken. :p

Found alphabet stamps that were a mere RM7 for a whole set. Hoyeah! *punches air*

My advise for invites? Survey as many places as you can! It may be cheaper for you to print than to DiY. In my case, I didn't need a lot of invites since Otto and I were having separate receptions (due to our parents' abundant families and friends :D). So I basically just needed invites for my own family and friends which didn't even reach 300 pieces. So yes, in my case, DIY was cheaper since most printing services had a minimum order of 500. Boo. Good luck B2Bs! :)

Sweetness

The other day I went to Otto's uncle's house for solat berjemaah. I was greeted with super loud shrieks of "AUNTY WAWAAAAAAA~!!!!"

In the Sarawakian Malay family tree I should actually be called a "wa" like my husband is called "Wa Apis" by them. But since my name is already "Wawa", being called "Wa" would result in my name being called "Wa Wawa". That's way too confusing. So they ended up being told to call me by Aunty instead. Haha. I feel so English.

I have known his nieces since they were wee babies. The two of them are as old as my relationship with my Otto. But I rarely go to their home so I am always surprised by how they would always run to hug me everytime I come. Haha. I feel so old and welcomed at the same time.

Before we returned home, one of them handed me a slip of paper and told me not to show it to the Otto. This is what it said:

I hope they will still remember this when they grow into their rebellious teenage years and won't burn my stuff or something. haha.

Lots of love for Amira and Alya. :')

I'm Back!!!

Had a lovely honeymoon! Spent a small fortune, but oh well, what's done is done. XD

I returned on Thursday, and was on the way to Saratok on Friday morning, and returned to Kuching on Sunday, started work immediately on Monday. So yes, pretty burned out.

I can't wait for the weekend! I am just grateful I have less classes to teach, thanks to my teaching during intersession! :)

What else is new?

Well, I returned to the office and nearly fell of my chair when I saw 81 emails in my inbox, so cleared all of that up. Had to face the usual teasing newlyweds get on the first day of work. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Oh, I am now Puan Najwa. Doesn't sound fancy. =_=

Otto (husband in Japanese :p) is continuing his studies starting this week Alhamdulillah, it's nice to know he still tries to improve himself. Hopefully I will be able to do the same soon. :)

So far married life has been swell. He is not a fussy person, so I am thankful for that. He cleans the dishes, and washes his laundry and is not a picky eater. Last night he requested for maggi kari. I got lucky with this one. XD

Posts of the wedding will be up sooner or later, since i am waiting for my official photos. I didn't take a lot of photos myself, but maybe I'll just post stuff about the smaller aspects of my wedding and such.

Have a happy week peeps! :)
